Difference Between Hydraulic And Ordinary Release Bearing
Although hydraulic clutch release bearings and ordinary clutch release bearings are similar in function and are both used to achieve clutch release operation, they have significant differences in structure and application.
Hydraulic clutch release bearings are usually used in conjunction with hydraulic systems. In a hydraulic system, when the clutch needs to be separated, the hydraulic oil pushes the piston or other mechanical device to make the clutch reach a disengaged state. This type of release bearing usually has a higher load capacity and a longer service life.
In contrast, ordinary clutch release bearings are mainly realized through mechanical structures, such as springs or lever systems, and do not rely on hydraulic systems. This design is relatively simple and low-cost, and is suitable for some space-limited or cost-sensitive applications.
Structural differences
Hydraulic clutch release bearings:
- Hydraulic system integration: This type of bearing is usually used as part of a hydraulic system, using the pressure of hydraulic oil to push a piston or similar mechanical element.
- High sealing requirements: Since hydraulic oil is involved, sealing is very important to prevent oil leakage.
- Complex structure: In addition to the bearing itself, it also includes components such as hydraulic cylinders, pistons, seals, and pipes and valves that control hydraulic pressure.
- Automatic or semi-automatic adjustment: Some hydraulic clutch release bearings also have automatic adjustment functions, which can automatically adjust the release gap according to the wear of the clutch plate.
Clutch release bearing (conventional/mechanical):
- Simple mechanical structure: usually only contains simple mechanical parts such as bearings and springs, levers or push rods connected to them.
- Manual or mechanical drive: The release bearing is pushed by the driver’s stepping on the clutch pedal or a mechanical device (such as the clutch actuator in an automatic transmission).
- No hydraulic system: It does not rely on the hydraulic system, so no additional hydraulic oil and maintenance are required.
Application differences
Hydraulic clutch release bearing:
- High frequency operation: It is particularly suitable for occasions where frequent and rapid clutch release is required, such as racing cars, heavy vehicles or industrial machinery that requires fast gear shifting.
- High load capacity: Due to the support of the hydraulic system, it can withstand greater torque and load, extending the service life of the clutch system.
- Precise control: The precise control of the hydraulic system makes the clutch release and engagement smoother and more reliable.
Clutch release bearing (conventional/mechanical):
- Low cost: Due to the relatively simple structure, the manufacturing cost and maintenance cost are low.
- Wide applicability: widely used in various automobiles, motorcycles and light mechanical equipment, especially those occasions where frequent clutch operation is not required.
- Easy to maintain: without complex hydraulic system, maintenance and replacement are relatively simple and quick.
